Sov Ownership ... boy how it's changed and yet it

When I started Eve Online over 9 years ago - wow has it been that long?!? - Owning sov was something that you did with POS Towers.  You had to go into a system and 50% + 1 of the Moons in the system had to have POS Towers on them.  That was ridiculous.  I was friends with a logistics pilot who used to do a lot of the behind the scenes pow towers for IT.  Ok, I'm aging my self here, aren't I? Eh oh well!  Then they changed things to be TCU & SBU based and fights would happen etc.  We would start with sub-capitals and escalate fights to capitals.  That was back in a time when capital pilots would sit and wait for the word that they were needed.

Now, everyone just jumps to capitals or supers right from the start for fights.  There is an entosis link you have to have on your ship - generally a sub-capital ship for that but wow.  Running the entosis link is like mining for ore.  You lock up the target and turn the link on and then sit there for the next 10-20 minutes.  Yawn.  Boring.  It's really BORING.  What the hell was CCP thinking when they launched this?  I know I was on a break but for fuck sake really?  Was this some way to get carebears interested in taking sov? Because this is the most BORING thing on the planet.  I've been in systems taking sov and had people type in local "have fun entosising" ... to "call us when you aren't entosising stuff".  Really? So, CCP do you know this is how the players feel about this stuff? Probably not.   Hmm who knows but I know that at some point I may end up giving them my feedback or maybe wait and hope and pray that the new owners of the game go "this is shit let's fix that" and change it!

Entosising newe systems are such a pain in the butt that the other day I was talking with a guy from QFC due to a sov thing and needless to say we kept the two extra systems we have.  An old ally who wanted the space we were given and had unblued us to "take" the sov.  When the whole time I would have given him the fucking sov - yet he didn't fucking communicate with me at all.  Now he doesn't like us living where we live and wants blues again because we could "sneak up" on him at any point.  Hmm you don't say?  Well let's see how long this lasts.

I will say it's interesting dealing with people in this game.  I know they won't believe me but I'm not the same person I was years ago grinding out sov.  I was broken then and now I'm not.  I LOL a lot at how these guys play this game.  There are days when I even get sad because of how sexist they can be at times and the guys I play with aren't.  It's ok.  Underestimate me.  That's fine.  Been here done this before, boy how things have changed and yet they haven't. We'll just see how much you underestimate me come spring/late may 2019.  ;)

Until the next time I write. kill something!

And so it begins ...

So I've spent the last year in Eve playing a game that I used to play for others.  This is the first time I'm playing the game for ME.  I work and go to school full time now.  Yep, I'm finally back in school.  My alliance is small and I've done no recruitment.  All I did was play the game and people asked to come to fly with me.  Ok.  I had to do an attitude adjustment because I was just playing the game for me - not for me and to have my alliance.

So last night we lost a Rorq.  I was texted about it because I was out at a thing for writers.  Oh yeah, that's what I'm in school for :D.  Anyway told them I would be home soon.  I got home and there were only two people on Teamspeak.  The guy who lost the Rorq and another alliance member.  We talked about his play style etc.

This fellow only has one account and flies capitals.  He doesn't want the time or expense of a second account and feels the game would suck if he did need it.  That's his opinion and he is entitled to it.  It's not one I share but I'm "old school'.  I come a time in Eve where all capital pilots have a cyno alt that is online when you have your capitals out and they are in cyno range.  Even if someone else will light your cyno you always have your cyno alt in range.  He doesn't choose to play this way.  He wants me to put up a cyno beacon so he can jump out when he needs too.  Well, that's all well and good but CCP has been changing things.  This isn't a POS Tower driven world any longer.  In about 6 weeks that will all change and I told him I'm not going to put up a cyno beacon until after that.  Cyno beacons have to be anchored on to a POS Tower and they are being discontinued.  I thought it would have been done a little faster than it has been but it is what it is.

So do I put a cyno beacon for him?  He is one person in my alliance and the only one who needs this.  So I think I'm going to tell him if he wants a cyno beacon put up he has to pay for the beacon and be responsible to fuel it.  That seems fair to me?  But then I wonder if that is too much to ask?  Well no, that's what he needs.  So we will see.

Later this week we will have a citadel loss on our killboards.  They won't get the assets but they will be getting the citadel.  It was in low sec and that corp CEO inherited the corp and assets.  We can't defend it because of the fleet size and what we can field at this time.  That's fine.  I have a plan, ship doctrines are out.  My killboards are going to look like shit for a while.  I am hoping by December some time that we will have our pvp "shit" together and move on to the next phase in our doctrines but only time will tell with that.

I am happy to have taught them kiting and they are using it!  I had one guy go "hey Athena look at this" and linked me a kill mail.  He took no damage and killed the guy - while kiting!  Oh yeah, baby!  I talked with a friend of mine who now lives in a WH and he says most pilots in null sec these days are F1 pilots. OH really?  LOL Yeah, this will be good.

The next class I'm teaching is the first of many on FC'ing.  I hope to get about 3-5 people at it.  I know small numbers but that doesn't bother me.  It gives me the time to do more 1:1 training with them.

It feels good to have pilots who want to learn how to pvp.  It feels good to share my knowledge again.

Smaller numbers of skilled pilots vs larger numbers of blobs - who will win?  Let's wait and see! ;)

I am back!

Well, I took a two and a half year break from Eve Online.  Personal and real-life issues along with some game mechanic changes and I just did not have the energy to recruit new people.  At the time we would go to null sec in frigs and destroyers and people would field dreads or not fight.  It got boring.  Yes, of course, I have pvp alts. I could have used but it just wasn't the same.

So, one of my guys said he was back to playing eve online.  That was in July of 2017.  I started looking at recent changes because it had been about six months since I had checked them.  We are in August and I start logging into Eve online.  Old friend Neok sees me and asks me to come to fly with him.  I tell my guys and help move one of them out of stain - OUCH!  I am still not fond of the jumping delays.  About a week goes by and suddenly Neok's corp isn't going to stay where they are at and the offer to join just kinda goes on hold.  Hmm ok.  So, I decide to restart Divinity. (DVN.).  Toss my corps in and just go to null sec npc to make isk.  I join a few bomber bar fleet ops and next thing I know it is October and I'm fc'ing fleets for bomber's bar.  Wait how did this happen?  I have a corp join Divinity.  First of the year comes and I'm approached by people who fly in my fleet ops who want to come to fly with me.

Woah not what I was expecting when I rejoined Eve Online.  I just wanted to make isk, shoot people and have fun.  Ok, I guess you can come to fly with me.  Querious Fight Club I had been watching for some time - ok since they started.  Finally the first of March came and I contacted them and they said: "yes we'd love to have you".  Hmm ok ...

You know for years when I played Eve I'd have people tell me how afraid of me they were and I never understood it.  I'd have people tell me I taught good classes and got good kills.  But see the whole time people never wanted to stay in Divinity.  They would come and go, well except for a handful of people.  Maybe that is Eve Online.  Maybe it's because I'm a woman.  In either case, I don't know and frankly, don't care about that any more.  See, friendships that are really formed from playing Eve Online will stand the test of time.  It doesn't matter if you fly with me, are allied to me or fight me.  It's a game.  Real friendships come from other actions.

I've changed a lot since I last played Eve Online.  It will be interesting to see how people perceive me now.  I've spent a year playing this game and while I have a lot of knowledge and don't mind sharing it, I really just want to shoot people and have fun.  Oh yeah and make isk too.

So I now have Divinity. Alliance.  We own sov and live in Querious.  Yes, we are members of the QFC (that stands for Querious Fight Club).  No we don't pay rent *YUCK*.  We pvp and have fun.  As for the pvp'ers I have.   Well, they are learning and that will take some time.  I wasn't willing to teach them a year ago because I didn't think I knew much about Eve Online.  Taking a break and coming back to the game has opened my eyes to several things.

So, I am recruiting people for my corp Divine Mortals (gotta start somewhere).  If you flew with me before the Garden of the Gods may be an option for you but we will see.  I am also looking for corporations looking for a home.  Your size doesn't matter - it's your spirit and how you approach the game that matters.  One thing is for sure - you do need to be pvp'ers if you want to come fly with us and live in Querious.  It's a lot of fun!

Let's see what the next year brings us!
